What is the SME Climate Hub?
What is the Climate Hub?
The Climate Hub is a government backed initiative which enables small and medium sized enterprises to future proof their businesses by committing to halve greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 and reach net-zero emissions before 2050.
The three core aims of the climate commitment are;
- Halve greenhouse gas emissions before 2030
- Achieve net zero emissions before 2050
- Disclose progress on a yearly basis.
Businesses of all sizes around the UK are committing to do their bit to cut carbon emissions and protect the planet. There’s a wealth of information and tools which the hub provides to support businesses and their goals. From helping you to set a target, building a business strategy and also measuring and reporting your progress, the hub is a great way to help you understand your impact on the environment and ways in which you can limit the damage caused.
What can we do to help climate change?
As a small business ourselves it’s important we understand how we can affect change short term and long term. We’ve already started implementing steps to becoming a more sustainable and carbon neutral company through switching to paper tape for our postage, not using any outer cardboard packaging for our individual products, reusing and recycling where we can and also educating our customers about how to recycle ambiguous materials such as pipettes.
As we grow, our strategy to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 will also grow. We support One Tree Planted to plant trees around the world to support ecosystems and natural habitats but we also want to be part of larger scale projects in the future to set the standard of how we can really make a difference.
