How to use our Hair Oils
As summer approaches our hair can need a little pick me up to prep it for the warmer weather. The heat from the sun can cause dryness which can be made worse by styling tools especially for coloured or chemically treated hair.
A good trim before the season starts is a great starting point. If you’re in the sun for long periods of time then consider wearing a hat or something to cover your hair and invest in a heavy duty leave-in conditioner. Products such as hair masks and oils can be invaluable during the summer months to give the hair some much needed moisture.
What does hair oil do?
Hair oil is one of those products you either love or haven’t got a clue how to use it.
If you fall into the latter group it can seem like an extra step in your hair care routine which you don’t see the point of, however regular use of a hair oil can improve the texture, condition and appearance of your hair over time.
We’ve come up with these handy tips on how to use our award winning hair oil, but these steps are also useful for any hair oil you’ve got at home.
Tips from the Floragist
- Pre-wash treatment - Massage 5-10 drops into dry hair and scalp. Leave-in for at least an hour, for best results leave overnight. Shampoo and condition as normal. This method gives an intensive hydration boost to the hair.
- Shampoo boost - To tame the frizz just add a couple of drops into your shampoo and massage well into the hair, rinse and condition as usual.
- Post-wash - Add a few drops to the lengths of the hair to smooth flyaway ends. Use a heat protector spray before heat styling.
- Styling - Use a couple of drops on dry hair to add shine to lengths.
Even if you only use hair oil once a week the visible benefits are worth it. Ingredients such as Argan Oil are popular as it moisturises and provides antioxidants, Coconut Oil softens and increases shine and Almond Oil can help to soothe the scalp. So if you don’t already use one now is a good time to start.
