What is Floragy?
We wanted to create a skincare brand which works in harmony with nature.
We needed a word that encapsulated the study of using nature to create plant based skincare formulations, so we created our own. We expanded on the word ‘flora’ and came up with Floragy. Subsequently our followers are now called Floragers and I’m technically a Floragist.
What inspired you to start the brand?
I’ve always suffered with dry skin on my face and after trying a lot of face creams and serums on the market they still left my skin feeling and looking dry and dehydrated.
I’ve always been interested in natural ingredients for skincare so I started researching and experimenting with different oils and fruit powders.
I also wanted to create a brand which was transparent with its ingredients and didn’t list too many on the label as I like to know what I’m putting on my face, I also wanted the brand to be accessible to everyone so price point was key.
What types of products do you sell?
We sell a variety of products for the face and body. We have clay face masks which come in a powder form so you can mix them yourself with water, honey or even yoghurt. I like the idea of being able to control the texture you want from the mask.
Our award winning Revive Face Oil has been really popular and we also sell Bath Soak, Bath Salts, Body Oil and a Hair Oil.
Are your products available in high street stores?
We’ve just had some exciting news which will be revealed shortly – so watch this space! You can also purchase via our shop on Etsy site, link here.
Are your products Vegan?
Yes, all of our range is Vegan, we don’t use any animal products at all. We’re also very conscious of how much packaging we use, so our products are not individually boxed, as most people will just throw away the box once they’re opened. Products like our Revive Face Oil is in a Miron bottle to protect the oil from UV light so an outer box isn’t necessary.
We use minimal plastic and are also in the process of swapping our black lids for aluminium ones.
Our bottles and jars are glass so can all be re-used or recycled, our labels are paper and use vegetable inks.
What have you been up to in isolation?
We’ve been very busy coordinating our new digital magazine The Floragist which will be launching soon.
We’ve also spent a lot of time researching and developing new products, two of which are a Beauty Balm and an Eye Serum, the Beauty Balm is available to buy now and the Eye Serum is available for preorder. I’ve had a lot of requests for an eye serum so I’m really excited about this one.
Are you still open for business?
Yes we are! Deliveries can take up to 7 days at the moment as I’m only venturing out to the Post Office once a week so I generally wait until I have a few more orders to send them out, but yes we are still trading.
What’s been the highlight for the brand so far?
It has to be winning the Editor’s Choice Award at the Beauty Shortlist Awards this year for our Face Oil, Hair Oil and Banana + Coconut Clay Mask. It was such a shock as there’s so many amazing brands who win those awards so to be at the same level as them is a great honour.
The future for Floragy?
We’ve had a busy year getting the business going so I guess now our focus is around making our brand more visible in selected retailers, working with press to get the brand out into the market and also focus on formulating more great products.
